[Komaeda picks up promptly. He doesn't have an excess of people who try to contact him, after all - which is partly why he sounds faintly surprised when he answers.] Hello?

[ The voice on the other end is definitely a stranger. ]

Yeah, is this Komaeda? The guy who got his hand cut off?

[ Might as well get right to the point! ]

Oh - yes. [What a unique thing to be known for.] Are you a friend of Tsumiki-san's? [It's the only logical conclusion to draw, considering that he doesn't remember meeting anyone new during the time he was missing his hand. Mostly Garry fussed over him at his own temple.]

[erogappa]

Yeah, twitchy little girl who cries a lot and has a thing for getting beat up?

[ He might be looking Mikan right in the eye when he says this. ]

She's sayin' that she sewed it back on for you. Is that true?

[fortunesmiles]

Oh, yes. I'd hardly have let her cut it off if she wasn't going to replace it! [Komaeda laughs, like this is no big deal.] It's actually a bit better than before...although, obviously, it was never going to be perfect, considering the limitations. But that's more because of what she was asked to do, and how long it's been since the original attachment, than her skill level! She is the Ultimate Nurse, after all.

Who is this, anyway? [He feels as though the information he's given out thus far could only be beneficial to Mikan, if not neutral, but he's not sure he wants to trust that a total stranger has her best interests at heart. And he doesn't want to keep giving out information without knowing who is asking, and why.]

[erogappa]

[ It's true. She really put his hand back on. But how is that even possible? ]

This is another guy who got his hand cut off. [ There's a brief pause, and when Gojyo next speaks, his voice is almost a whisper. ]

Is this kinda thing normal, where you're from? ...Are you human?

[fortunesmiles]

Oh? By Tsumiki-san, or some other way? [Komaeda sounds surprised, but not particularly alarmed. Honestly, why should he? The man's talking lucidly to him. Whatever happened to his hand, clearly he's all right enough at the moment.

He only assumes Mikan might have been involved because the man's contacted him to talk to him, specifically about her.]

Also, I'd still like a name...especially since you seem to have mine already.

And I suppose I'm technically still human? I don't know if being a god changes that. I'm certainly not mortal anymore... [He sounds thoughtful.] As for whether what Tsumiki-san did with my hand is considered normal back where I'm from...no, definitely not. Without an Ultimate level talent, it probably wouldn't even be possible, much less normal!

[erogappa]

[ He listens quietly as Komaeda talks, and there's a pause of a few seconds at the end before he replies. ]

Got it. Thanks.

[ And then he hangs up because he's a rude sunnovabitch. ]

[So rude. Luckily, Komaeda neither expects, nor believes he warrants, manners. He's a touch surprised, and perhaps chastises himself a bit for giving up information without forcing an equal trade in return, but beyond that, he simply stares at his phone for a moment before hanging up.]

Hey, Nagito. I might be a half hour late or so coming back home from the library, but I'll get working on dinner as soon as I get back

There's something I've been thinking on that I want to talk to you about afterwards.... So, I'll see you soon, alright?

[....Except he very clearly doesn't make it.]

Two hours after Garry's message...

Garry, where are you?

[Another message, an hour after that.]

Are you all right?

[And another, half an hour later.]

Please don't be dead.

[Also, this means Komaeda probably hasn't eaten since Garry failed to come home, gdi Komaeda why are you so bad at everything]

I know we don't see eye to eye, but I just wanted to say I appreciate you speaking with me anyway. It's not the kind of talk that people are willing to have with me all the time. Thank you for challenging me to be the best I can be.

[Garry isn't even sure he can explain where he is right now. Somehow the act of explaining seems too bizarre.]

[So he'll just... send over a picture of his current situation, showing his hand leading along a certain sun god and a trail of purple robot goats behind them.]

I'll be back soon, taking care of something.

[He's not entirely sure what that 'something' is, but he's taking care of it, that's for sure.]

That's...definitely unusual. What's going on?

I'm getting her away from the lava. I think he was trying to get the goats to make a barrier of some sort, but it wasn't working, and then he started to act strange.

I just wanted to let you know.

Who is she? Where did the goats come from? Who was trying to make a barrier out of goats?

[Komaeda has so many questions, and for once he feels like he's the reasonable one in this conversation. It takes a very special kind of conversation to make Komaeda the reasonable, grounded one, but here they are.]

I don't know. I think she brought the goats and was the one trying to have them make a barrier.

Fortunately, she wasn't trying to make the barrier out of goats. She was trying to make the goats construct a barrier out of rocks.

It wasn't working.

[Trust him, it's surreal to him too.]

Why would you try to make goats build a barrier...?

[It takes some minutes before Garry gets back to him.]

I have no idea. She doesn't make sense. I think a couple of the goats are following me now?

You know, that's kind of funny.

[artificialrose]

It's bizarre is what it is. Anyway, if we end up with robotic goat pets, now you'll know why.

[He could text Komaeda about the endearing invitation he's just gotten but, well, they do live in the same house. So as he's making some basic sandwiches for lunch, Garry calls down the hall.]

Nagito! Lunch is ready. Also, would you like to go to a party?

[fortunesmiles]

Hm? [Komaeda drifts down the hall into the kitchen, giving Garry a look of mild surprise once he's in sight.] A party? What's the occasion?

[artificialrose]

It's just a book party thrown by a pair of kids I know.

[Smiling at Komaeda once he shows up, Garry returns to get a pair of drinks. Hopefully today one of the kitchen appliances won't suddenly bust... Ultimate Luck really isn't something to sneeze at.]

I suppose they just wanted to do something fun and nice.

Hmm...well, that sounds harmless enough! I suppose my luck would have to work quite hard to ruin things!

[Komaeda tends to do this when assessing a new activity - judging it based on how catastrophically wrong his luck could make it go. He tends to get quite breathless with the possibilities when it's something actively dangerous, like training with weapons every month...

But a book party couldn't really sound milder. Sure, his bad luck could kick in anyway, but it's much more of an uphill battle for it when it comes to tame activities. Something like the careless slip of a match could domino into a five-alarm fire with even everyday misfortune, but even Komaeda's luck can only do so much with papercuts and loose bindings.]

What kids are these?

Yeah, I thought it would be a nice mild event.

[Not ruined by either luck or Komaeda's choice of conversation topics! Hopefully. He guesses it depends on what kind of books come up.]

Their names are Elfnein and Romeo. I don't suppose you've met them?

No, those names don't sound familiar. But then I don't socialize as much as other gods do, I suppose, so that's not too surprising...

What are they like?

Well, they're both very sweet in their own ways. Romeo is very hardworking, quite optimistic... He worries about everyone and wants to help out so much. I'm a little worried sometimes, honestly...

[It's easy to take advantage of kids who just want to help out, after all. Going to get some drinks, he hums.]

Meanwhile, Elfnein is incredibly smart for her age. However, she's so curious that she's likely to get herself hurt or not eat as well as she should. I guess she's a little similar to you in that regard.
